In America

My dear, my dear, How goes it in America, in America, my dear? How goes it in America? Fine fine fine, says she. Except of course of course not so finefinefine If You are a woman or an immigrant or uneducated or lacking skills or poor or black or brown... That's how she goes in America, dear Liberty Lady. Your beacon light shines not on all.

Yes it does not! but "If You are a woman" - is it really in America? Its not a third world conservative country? But the impact of the poem is very nice.

Hi Marshall, Thank you for your comment. The 'woman' piece can be 'subtle' depending upon location and particular realms of influence. No disrespect meant, but as with much in life, your view depends on where you are sitting.

the american dream is a fallacy that is well known but never acknowledge, especially for black and immigrants. Enjoy this poem.

Mind-stirring piece, my friend. Perhaps, a warning for people to wake up.

This and more of Sarah Jullion I read and experience a woman poet of America who knows the secret of it drowned by boisterous claims. Nice poems showing light and shades!

A conversational poem always wins interest. This one doubly does for honest comments on the true circumstance of the female immigrant in America. Some of them turn stammerers!

A compelling poem which confronts your reader with a dilemma: is America for all or just the fortunate, the privileged? Well penned. Thought provoking. Sincerest regards, Brian
