In a Moment of Weakness

In a moment of weakness I was ready to be chipped. I thought I might as well have the operation, And get it over with. No more worries about losing my phone, No more hunting through reams of paper, To find that all important receipt. No need to feel for my wallet, Or waiting on replacement cards. No more coming home through back streets, Because I left my Drivers Licence home. Even better, No more thoughts of where is my Birth certificate, When a certified copy required. Fortunately the thought of, Being knocked off my perch early, Keeps me from going down that road.

Interesting poem on an untouched (as far as I've read) theme. I loved the flow. I wonder how many have been chipped??? It is so dystopian to me.

I think it will become a more common theme. Appreciate your comment as getting the flow right is something I am working on. It is like most things in life that we can use for good or not. Medical advances are a case in point where people are mobile or or kept alive by some sort of computer chip. I think some big companies have or are trying to get being chipped a job requirement. A shortage of moral compasses is the fly in the ointment I think. But poetry and poets give me hope. Take care David in NZ
