In a Hundred Years

Technology knows no bounds as it is - It blows my mind to even think of how the world might be in a hundred years The optimists among us have bold dreams of cures not only for cancer but for all disease Big dreams of peace where drugs guns and greed have been eradicated The world political climate is harmonious and cooperative no more starvation and no more war Poverty is non existent climate change has been reversed and the effects of pollution have been overturned Equal opportunity for every woman man and child the world is one big family I want to be an optimist but there’s more money to be made in chaos I want to ignore history and place my hopes in technology to be the cure-all I want to dream big too AP: 1st place 2021, Honorable Mention 2021 Submitted on May 29, 2018 to contest IN A HUNDRED YEARS sponsored by BRIAN DAVEY

As a stubborn optimist, I'd like to make a suggestion that I think would actually change something (for a change) and bring about a better world: End formal education at age 11, and give kids a chance to work 1/2 a day, after which they would learn 1/2 a day---what and where their interests take them. Get rid of the "teen-age" years altogether. Let kids grow up faster, in the wholesome sense, and not in the prurient, violent sense so common today. OK. I'm off my soapbox now. :) gw

This is excellent Line. I too would like to dream big but reality tells me, it's not going to be as bright as some people think. This should do very well IMO.
