Immortality

“I don’t believe in personal immortality; the only way I expect to have some version of such a thing is through my books.” -Issac Asminov With age, thoughts turn to life’s totality, and death, the sign of its finality. To live forever, our mentality, and yet to die, a factuality. I say to you, it is reality, our poetry’s our immortality. “Once we place our thoughts upon the page, they will last forever.”

Thank you, Elaine. One of the reasons I began writing was to leave something behind after I die. It is a sad thought for me to think that 3 or 4 generations from now no one will know who we were. Hugs, John

Great piece John, I really love your quote '“Once we place our thoughts upon the page, they will last forever.” this really makes one ponder about what we write about. Many blessings from Scotland, Gordon

Thanks so much, Gordon, I appreciate your thoughts. One of the reasons I started writing several years ago was so that I would have something to leave behind and not be just another name on Ancestry.com. John

Hi John, I love this monorhyme - the only thing that is certain in life is death. I read a poem not so long ago about transition from life to death and it says death is merely going through a portal to the other side - but these words could mean anything that we imagine them to be Great write John, and your last sentence is very true - our poetry is our immortality! Hugs, Jennifer.

"To live eternal" Yes, that is our reality. Our soul lives on, after we die. Physically, we leave our words behind. Our heart is upon the page, moments are still alive. This is so beautifully written and presented my dear friend. ~ Brandy
