Imminent Rain
The day was hot and muggy.
Heat ... smothering.
Glad to be indoors
in an air-conditioned work place.
Sapphire blue sky overhead,
beautiful , to the stolen glimpses.
Crossing the parking lot en masse
at days end.
The sky no longer bright.
Now almost a greyish-blue haze.
Storm clouds are gathering
in the distance.
Heading inland.
The air tingling with moisture.
In this heat when the rain comes
it will be with thunder
... and lightning.
It will make an entrance not to be
ignored
