Imagination
Somewhere on another world
in a far away galaxy,
Intelligent life forms built a telescope,
so powerful our planet they could see
I also built a similar contraption
then maxed out the zoom,
Now I witness these same beings
observing earth from a room
And as they zoom in closer
it’s dinosaurs they see, not me
This is no illusion,
nor does it defy relativity
I’m in their far off future
watching them observe earths distant past,
I spot a real T Rex on their monitor
Barney I nickname him, aghast!
I’m live streaming earth
via a planet no one has ever heard,
Even though the creatures I see
are 66 million years dead,
We humans have not evolved yet
for we’re light parsecs ahead
Every observable thing that has happened
embeds in photons racing through space,
All we need to unlock them is technology,
and be standing in the right place
I hope you follow my postulation
these implications are quite intense,
What good are our imaginations
without trying to make some sense.
Wow! here’s a thought about this poem
say on a planet 2000 light years away,
If by chance they observe Jerusalem
Christ son of man! what more need I say
