I'M So Tired of the Lies

I'm so tired of the lies

I've heard... all of these stories before...
I say...it's time to show you the door...

You're so good at... telling your lies
but, I know how to read 'tween the lines
I'm saying...   God only knows
if anything you say's worth believing

I'm so tired of the lies,
searching for truth...hiding in the lines
I'm going to lay down some rules,
not letting you choose...
what you're going to do...
The time has come for letting you go...
but... I think you already know...
that it's... 
time for goodbyes...
'cause that look in your eyes... is deceiving



I've learned... not to trust a word you say
I can't... believe how easily you've strayed

You say don't stay up waiting for me,
You say how young hearts need to be free
I know that...wherever you go
God only knows... what you're doing!

Very profound John. Once trust is gone there is no getting it back. No matter what anyone tells you, like, you know "you can work around it..." Trust is like a broken mirror, there is no mending the crack, it is always visible. There has to be betrayal for trust to be broken, and for that to occur there is no respect. It is the ones that appear to have no faults, that are least to be trusted...and when it comes to love, love a woman, or a man, but no angel. x

I like all your poems. I get caught up in my own writing and life here - sometimes, it's hard to get to everyone's poems for comments. I think this one is spot on. Will take some time today to read your poems. :)

So powerfully penned John,and such sad lyrics. I don't like being deceived and lied to and guess you have to let go and I love the impact of the chorus especially the repeat at the end. Hugs Jan x

And again John WOW! Another fav for me! I love poetry I can relate too and sadness unfortunately is the kind I most connect with! And lies... lol don't get me started! But seems I have been gone too long I'm missing out on all the great poems!;( well I guess I will have to make it a point to start stopping through the soup s but more often!;) another fav!;)

Thanks again Brenda for the great comment, unfortunately many have lived this reality, better to show them the door, especially if they are schemers and liars. Thanks especially for the fave I am honored that you like my writing so much. As for people not reading or commenting lately it's the time of year, every body is too busy for poetry, so it's not just you, we all have less views and comments!

Haha...Love freeloaders...that is a good one! Yes, totally agree that some feel entitled and that the feelings of others don't matter. Your poems/lyrics always bring up a lot of memories for me...it's like reading snippets from my biography. Loving your creations John...I hope I can get through all the ones I missed.

Yeah I think a lot of people would like to say that to their love freeloaders, some people just can't help themselves I guess, maybe they were raised entitled, so they think other peoples feelings don't matter. Difficult if not impossible to love a selfish person. Thanks for your great comment MA!

This is great one John. So many people go through this. Lies are so destructive and impact trust for so long after. It seems the liars have this thing where they want to 'win' too, like life, feelings and relationships are some sort of game. You have described it well. :)

Eyes are the mirror to the heart. You can always tell when someone is lying. Also, with their body language. Trust is earned!! I agree with Tommy!! Your thoughts come from your brain. Your thoughts always move me. ~ Brandy

Thanks Brandy, it's true there are many ways to detect lies, like you say it's in the eyes. My conscious thoughts never stray into these feelings, that's why it's always a surprise when these songs come out. Glad you liked this one!

The truth is always the best course to follow, lies only get you in trouble eventually as your wonderful lyrics state. One can only take so much. Nicely done my friend. As for where they come from...I am reading the Keith Richards Bio "Life" You would find it very interesting where a lot of their songs came from. Not where you might think.

Thanks Chris, yeah maybe I'll check it out. Dreams eh? Keith Richards is an interesting character, they should make a movie about his life...and sound. Hey did you see the new best guitarist list...top 50 Keith is there Clapton of course, Jeff Beck, and Jimi is number 1, all are in the top 5. Prince comes in at 10 (finally some recognition) but no George Benson(whats up with that, no Ry Cooder or Steve Lukather) oh well I guess it's all subjective.

I think you should read it, it is very enlightening. Their song writing seemed to be very sporadic based on their feelings and state of mind at the time. Many came to him in dreams. But most were written based on whatever guitar rift he came up with and there is always a big piece on how he tunes his guitar and why many can not duplicate his sound.

Letting go is the only way to relief when faced with a liar..many out there --that fit the imagery you painted, John..yes--time for goodbyes...excellent write.
