I'M Not the One

Who put you in charge of humanity
I’m not the one you wanted me to be
Feeling betrayed and abandoned in your eyes
Yet knowing what is right for me
The misfits will find acceptance and glory in their ways
The gangs, the Goth, the gay, the Wicca, the poor, the hungry, the challenged
Look at me! Do I need to conform? Change is needed, and I’m not the one.
Neither my color, nor my dress, nor my piercing, or my choices make me different
Being true to myself, with an acceptance of differences does.
It makes me who I am and I see the need for change
Only, I’m not the one.

This is interesting and trying to think just exactly what you meant. Maybe this is how I think too. That's cool you have three pets. I am disappointed in my cats. I just noticed one of them is peeing on places in the house, even with 2 litter boxes and I don't have a clue what to do. geeeez (how I wish my perfect pet could come back to life and replace this bad cat I got. haha)

Hello Vince. I do like the way that you write, they make me think about what is. We must all above all be true to ourselves. Too often I have conformed to please others. Im learning. Thank you for your comments on "Emotionally Dead". Writing is therapy for me. Take care Vince.

This is a great makes-ya-think write. I remember those young years and trying to keep-up-with-the-Jones's. The older I get, the less I try to please anybody. You nailed it, Vince. Love, Dave

Vince - of course I'll pray for them - not a big favor at all - I see it as an honor - I've put a lot of time in on my friends case and most cases that end with life are accepted in the appellant court - So keep the faith - God Bless you Vince, mj

Nobody like you, Michael Jordan, Chris Higgins, and Abe ever carry this fire for the people. Many write poems, because they are organizers of words, you make poetry out of your soul. It is this passion that moves your writing, and dispose your poem to behave like a poem, changing emotions and the world, Bravo, soldier-poet, friend. Felt this write.

Great one..Enjoyed your work..Yes, there are those that seem to have that little bit of rebel in them..I am glad that I chose this one to read this A.M..I wonder how many of those that do things to stand out ever settle in..Thanks for your continued support by your prayers..When a family tries to get closer to God and do what is right the more satan throws things in the way..Sara

Vince, I saw your comment on Deb's blog. Very sorry you received bad news. So many Americans are struggling. Your son has been in my prayers and you are as well. Love and blessings, Carolyn

Don't even think about conforming, Vince. We have to follow our hearts! Great work in describing the misfits that fill our society and how they have their own paths to glory and acceptance. You might consider entering this in John Heck's "Switch" contest. Love, Carolyn

Insightful words, Vince....being true to oneself....those are the key words. So often we look upon others with such judgement...even our own loved ones, wanting them to conform.....how rightous that makes us....who are we to think we are in charge of humanity? I agree,.........I'm also not the one!
