I'M Leaving On a Jetski

How to ride a jetksi I don’t know But my rucksack’s packed and I must go To see a gal across the Irish Sea Spent five grand on a new jetski And I’m gonna sail across the sea Though a sailor’s told me that I shouldn’t go But this Manx lass I have got to see Maybe she will marry me Should I let my current partner know … That I’m leaving on a jetski To cross the stormy Irish sea I hope, there’s no photo I’m on a mission, call me a fool I don’t know if I’ve ample fuel Strict covid laws do not apply to me I’m leaving early in the morning I will not heed a stranger’s warning I hope he’s the only one who’ll know That I’m leaving on a jetski To cross the stormy Irish sea I hope, there’s no photo I guess I let my partner down Unfaithful, yeah I slept around But this sexy lass I really have to see I’ve missed her smile and peachy tush Into my arms I knew she’d rush But sadly cops soon caught up with me I broke the law got sent to jail A hefty fine, my face turned pale And now the world will know I returned home sans my jetski Cops made me a deportee They said that I had to go I had to use the Manx ferry Ebay sale for my jetski This is my tale of woe A little poetic licence but based on a real event in December 2020 (Poem Based on I'm Leaving on a Jet plane by John Denver) Written for Change The Record Poetry Contest Sponsored by Natasha L Scragg 10/29/21

Interesting... I first heard 'Jet Plane' in person at a Peter, Paul and Mary concert, and had no idea it was a John Denver original. Both PP&M and J.D. are in my top 10 of all time favorite pop/C&W singers. (My three favorites: 1. Nat King Cole 2. Willie Nelson 3. Johnny Cash. :)

Well done, Jan. I'll be singing that song all day long, and I may even substitute the lines I can't remember with yours! Love it.

Well done, Jan! However, even Eve knew that when it comes to getting one's rocks off, males are absolutely mindless . . . . In Hawai'i, we daily see people who can't swim go surfing with the belief a leash will secure them to the board . . . . ..

lol Rico, lust took over and he ended up in jail, there are many discrepancies in the story from start to finish. I pity his partner and his 2 children in Scotland - at least the authorities here deported him in time for Christmas, and as for the lass she is currently serving 8 months in prison. hugs jan xx

I always liked this song. There was another man called Cliff De Young that sounded just like John Denver. I enjoyed reading your lyrical work. Reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. Thanks for dropping by my page. Sara

The ending was just victor, he broke strict lockdown rules to come and visit this girl, they released him from prison in time he could spend christmas with his young child and new baby - the cad risked his life to come over (he cant swim) and also put the Island at risk of infection as we were under very strict lockdown - he got caught and then court, hugs Jan xx

I love this Jan. I smiled all the way through reading it. Of course because of my job his song was very special to me and my husband used to play it. I hope this is a top winner in the contest. Your lyrics are so creative and fun. This is going into my Faves! xxoo Blessings
