I'M Just An Orphan

I'm just an orphan. A transplant to this state. Basking in the sun light, sitting by a lake. There's people all around me but I know not one. It's active here now that bass season has begun.. I'm only one orphan on this bright spring day, captive to melodic birds as they chirp away.. I'm only one orphan befriended by an oak. It's sturdy branches shield me with their shady cloak. I'm just an old orphan but nature knows my name. She calms and she comforts as she brings me peace again.

Hi Andrea, Thanks for visiting. I'm sure that if I wasn't living alone I wouldn't be writing and putting my neck out there so much. I think in the end we are all orphans waiting to go home.

Nature gives so much of consolation to every weary heart. The refrain 'I am an orphan' gives a melancholic tone to the whole poem. Powerful penning, dear Nancy.

Hi Valsa, Mostly I am doing ok but it's been challenging at times to be so far away from family in my seasoned years. The area I reside in is mostly seasoned couples with lots of family connections and any one from another state is considered suspicious as the opiate crisis is impacting so many rural communities. I moved here three years ago when the world shut down due to covid but my family is scattered all over the U.S. It's had some challenges. Have a blessed day.

Hi Gina, I agree with you and think that with all the over stimulation of our current culture we should definitely take care of God's creation as it offers so much solace and beauty. Bless you and thanks for visiting little old me.
