Notes About The Poem

I'M Forgiven

I have sinned and been forgiven
Because of the One who’s living
Sitting by the right hand of God
And Alive inside my spirit strong
How could He know my worst sin
Would be forgiven when He said
It is finished… It is finished

Yes, He died on that tree
Forever freeing me
Because He rose in three days
Gave us all unending grace

Yes, He died on that cross
Or forever I would be lost
Never a chance for living at all
Or reaching that paradise of God’s

I have sinned one too many times
Yet He gives me mercy that abides
Forever seeing me as His Child
With victory over my old life of sin
He touches me deep within
Piecing me back together when I can’t
Make myself feel like more than a fake

He said, It is finished
And they put Him in the tomb
Where He didn’t stay imprisoned
But came alive and went to heaven

Yes, He died upon a cross
For all of us who are lost
But He lives on the right hand of One
Who calls Him His one and only Son

Yes, He died upon that cross
Or forever I would be lost
Never a chance for living at all
Or reaching that paradise of pure love

Yes, He died and rose again
To finally take me by the hand
And make me into a person
God would deem worthy
