I’m fine!!
No really…
Just fine!
No worries…
Go ahead
Just walk away…
See, I’m smiling

Sorry,
What’s that you said?
There is a pooling of red
Underneath my blouse?

Oh this?
It's nothing
It’s just
The blood trickling down
From the gash in my heart
That your words just made
A minute ago
Nothing really…
I’m fine!
Just walk on by!

Mr Seal....I was going through my old poems and reading some comments....looking for something, and I came upon this...a comment of yours that I haven't replied to. This was hard to read because it's painfully relate-able. Most don't realize the hurt they've caused (and quite often unintentional)... but it's in our nature to smile and pretend it wasn't a big deal, because you love them. And the ones you love are the ones that can hurt you the most. Emotion at it's rawest!

Timothy...you are right on the money. We can't get hurt by those who have no control over our hearts. It's the ones who do who can rip our hearts to shred! :( Having said that, we can do the same so...it goes both ways! Thanks for the post! :)

Yes....not many people can see beyond the surface. Maybe that's a good thing. I know from experience tha not many people are strong enough to handle that kind of pain. Have a good day, my dear.

Ya know what, we need to be Ike mood rings...turning different colors with our moods so people will know how they make us feel, wouldn't that be cool? Great poem Eileen

DONNA...I'm one big mood ring! My face says it all! ;) Even when I try to smile...it comes out lopsided when I'm side. My friend told me, "Wll, that's a fake grin!" I'm a mood ring all by myself! Thanks for the love and care!
