ILLUSIONIST

I FIND MYSELF QUITE AMAZED THAT AGAIN
                                          I PORTRAYED THIS ILLUSION
I HAD DECIDED TO GIVE UP THE MASQUERADE
I DO NOT KNOW HOW OR WHY IT HAPPENED
THAT I PUT THE WRONG FACE ON TODAY
WHETHER IT WAS IN MY HASTE
PERHAPS THE DIMNESS OF THE LIGHT OR DUE
TO THE BLINDNESS OF MY HEART I REACHED
INTO MY DRAWER AND PULLED OUT THE WRONG
MASK ASTONISHED I WORE A SMILE FOR YOU THIS
THIS TIME WHEN IT TRULY SHOULD HAVE BEEN
A FROWN WHY DO I FIND IT NECESSARY JUST TO
KEEP YOUR FEELINGS INTACT FOR ME TO KEEP UP
                                       THIS ILLUSION OF CONTENTMENT
FOR ME TO CONCEAL THE WAY YOU SOMETIMES
MAKE MR FEEL I THOUGHT CLOWNS HAD THE
                                       MONOPOLY ON DECEPTION
FOOLING THE WORLD WITH THEIR PAINTED
FACES AND WIDE GRIN IF YOU WOULD CARE TO
LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER I AM THAT CLOWN
I AM THE MASTER OF ILLUSION
