Illucifer

When the angel of mercy spoke of Light and Love, they not only failed to listen, they invented a false symbol of pure evil, a counterweight to the voice of Truth that gave credence to worser demons of their nature. With dire consequence, a great many 'living hearts and hearthstones all over this broad land' derive great meaning from this illusory figment... In steadfast determination to prove it real.

Lucifer "Morning Star" "Light Bringer" could be seen to mean illumination. Light is Evil. Of course, it is nothing of the sort. Neither is darkness the loss of the Light of God. Neither is darkness Hell..both Light& Dark are parts of a Whole and all the various shades of gray. Humans need to accept the lack of universal truths to stop vilifying and killing each other in the name of right. Illucifer is illusion. Light & Love

Truth is illusive, changing with each persons individual reality, their cultural upbringing, their mental capacity....good and evil are human constructs to explain opposite poles...yet...what is evil to (x) the death of their child..who was a soldier can be good to (y) whose soldier son now lives. Light also can be good (illuminating understanding) or evil (a Klan cross burning)...Lucifer/the Devil/Evil was in old testament terms a fallen angel (sexless higher being closer to God)..cont.

Amen! Some don't even want to admit that there is such a thing as evil. Yes, keep that hope alive. For in faith, there is always a way through the challenges. Much to think about here. Thank you for taking time to comment on my poem. Have a nice day! Karen

Let he who hath ears; listen. And he who hath a heart understand. Well done my friend. Evil is easily disguised to appear good to the uninitiated. The wise man filter all through the seive of faith and reason, as you have here. Thanks for an uplifting read. Beat, Will

Illucifer is an illuminating poem, Yoni. It has always seemed to me that too many people blame their misdeeds on the devil instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. This is a very thought-provoking write. "Pure evil" has taken many forms over the ages; Hitler comes to mind. Your poem is quite powerful, Yoni. We could spend hours discussing this concept. Excellent write! Love, Carolyn

Yoni, This is an excellent, insightful, and well composed write. There must be opposition in all things. How can we know that we are happy unless we have experienced sadness? How can we know good unless we have seen evil. How can we understand wealth if there was no poverty with which to compare it? I've even wondered how God could "Test" us if there was no evil Satan. With out him and his many comrades, we would never really understand righteousness. Lovingly, Dane (Soup mail.)
