Labels, bar codes, tattoos,
scars, third grade report cards,
a conspiracy of character.
A collection of square pegs
defining a circular whole,
a single syllable definition
of a polysyllabic expression,
the “road less traveled”*
“The Road Not Taken”.*
My song is sung
out loud – off key
my strength
the strength of being
alone amid a welcoming
of tattered tags
of howling winds.
