I'll Be On My Guard

I woke up this mornin' and got stung by a bee
Why is everybody always pickin' on me?
The glaciers are melting and the core's cooling down –
Everybody seems to wanna push me around

I found destruction on the path of least insistence
I found riddles at the Oracle – too hard 
But when the party's on, I'll be on my best behavior
And when World War Three comes, I'll be on my guard 

I looked in the fortune cookie and what did it say?
"You're so full of yourself that you're in the way.
The sun may fall down or the clouds might part,
But baby, it's you who's gonna take it all apart."

I found destruction on the path of least insistence
I found riddles at the Oracle – too hard

And when World War Three comes, I'll be on my guard 

I'll be on my guard
And guard the palace of the Queen
I'll be marching back and forth
And I'll be living out the dream 
I'll be a sentry at the gate
And I'll be asking for the code 
Ain't no trouble gonna get past
With me parked on this road 

I looked in my wardrobe for my usual suit 
All's I found was my bayonet and things from my youth 
Gotta put on your uniform and join the parade 
Gotta walk in the sun or else you'll burn in the shade 

I found destruction….
