A PBS News Hour video appears with this poem. The relevant segment starts at 16:35. The interview allows a fired park ranger to tell her story. BTW, I personally know someone who worked on FAA systems critical to safety information dissemination as a contractor. She recently joined the FAA and has impressed all numbers of fellow FAA employees with her knowledge and work ethic. Having the job had allowed her husband to go back to school for an advanced degree. They also have a young child. She was recently fired, which upset everyone in her department. She's also now prohibited from rejoining the FAA as a contractor.

No prior POTUS has admired Towered pyres for esquires they’d hired Tired not by work hard Now wired the trump card That commands retire or You're Fired!

Duke, he loves his country, so does Putin. Trump -n- Musk the two have their ‘Thumbs Down’ playing king & jester with people’s lives, already causing deaths (medicine needed) by firing USAID, states another unfortunate fired USAID worker.

Anaya, I am with you...the thumbs down image is definitely appropriate. They would have done very well at the colosseum ending the lives of slaves simply because they could. If we thought civilization advanced in the past 2,000 years, it's starting to seem like it was was pretty temporary. We ended slavery in this country, but not completely for everyone. Now that it's going to be affecting more of us, many have come to understand why we have a serious leadership problem.

Hi Anne-Lise. The people at the top state they believe in Christian values. Their true values are white supremacy, misogyny, sadism, and greed. Everything Trump does is in his interest alone and he has managed to co-opt the government for his own purposes. This is a dangerous time and we will all suffer as a result since we share the same air, water, and planet. Sadly, this reveals how little people understand about our relationship and dependence upon our own planet. Rather than fix that relationship, idiotic Musk would like to set up a colony on Mars...a sick idea that will surely fail and speed up destruction here. It's denial of reality in spades.

Thanks Nette. "Flawed" is putting it mildly. I intend to continue writing like this as long as I live and see destructive behavior. At least they can't take away our sense of humor! Take care and smiles!!

Dear Duke, This incredible limerick poem criticizes the nature of leadership and power in the context of a previous President, highlighting the repercussions of prioritizing personal gain and the transactional nature of politics. It implies that previous leaders frequently lacked a genuine dedication to hard labor, instead depending on hired aid and power tactics. Themes include authority, accountability, and the frequently superficial character of political leadership. It expresses disenchantment with the concept of effective leadership. Your terminology is extremely heated and a little humorous, with terms like "towered pyres" and "esquires" conjuring images of grandeur and legalism. I believe the phrase "trump card" has a double meaning, referring to both a literal card in a game and the concept of a decisive edge.

Hi SP, You are so incredibly thoughtful and wonderful on this site. I meant to indicate that previous leaders did not honor the pyres, which represent the hard working workers who are being sabotaged today. I made this too complicated and so I get your comment. Yes "trump card" now has a triple meaning! I tried to pack this limerick with many rhymes and came up with 9 tied to the main verse. That took a little time and restricted the use of language a bit. Thanks and I'll try to be more direct going forward!! the Your fired line is his "apprentice" thing, but it turns out he is the apprentice. We just need to fire him sometime soon.

It’s dizzying. Every day a new jaw drop. Enjoying your limericks on point though. I miss not thinking about American politics. xomo

Maureen, thanks for reading. I saw some of your recent work. Interesting comments there. Some reveal what his supporters are like...there's a joy in inflicting pain and suffering while doing the KGB's business. We're in trouble here. Smiles to the North!

Hmm not sure whats happening dear duke. But this is the scene in politics everywhere around the world also here ~whenever the govt changes: they hire and fire based on their contacts and who are in sync with their whatever policies or agendas. Such is life. But i hope the best for america . . Pleasure reading your work always: sending you light always

IE, our leaders have started following an autocratic playbook. Our president who has no compunction for being mean (he actually enjoys it) thinks he knows how to make great deals, and it seems he would like to divide the world into three control areas--one for each of the three superpowers. In fact, he's got a mindset about 90 years out of date from what I can see. Personally, I am doing well. You are very kind and your work is fantastic. Makes me feel really good to read it...smiles!!!

Ain’t it great! It’s called draining the swamp and being accountable for every dollar spent. I know liberals love big intrusive government but if all these useless unelected bureaucrats in DC working (yeah right) from home on the taxpayer’s dime don’t want to return to the office they can all kiss their cushy jobs goodbye.

Hi Keith, thanks for reading and leaving a comment! You focus on how we get work done productively and effectively. For many kinds of work, a computer and phone function the same in an office or from home. What's the advantage of putting people on the road and having them commute all 5 days a week when we have these great tools? It doesn't seem efficient to add more traffic, burn more gas, pollute more, have the government maintain more office space, and make workers travel for the hell of it. BTW, a conservative voice of yore, Milton Friedman, pointed out that big and inefficient government has the advantage of making it difficult for someone to use the system in an autocratic fashion against its own people or to promote advantages for a small group. For that reason, we might not want to drain the swamp too quickly. Have a great day!!
