Ignis Fatuus

The friar’s light, a deceiving light,
my nightmares deluding my mind
crossing the misty moors at night.
The friar’s light, a deceiving light.
Howling hounds affright – bite! They bite!
My eyes wide open but I’m blind!
The friar’s light, a deceiving light,
my nightmares deluding my mind.

In daylight the moors are a lovely sight, but come night, they are a scary place to be....and your poem goes to prove that, Linda! Congratulations on placing first! Regards // paul

Like Jan, I thought of "The Hound of the Baskervilles". The images of friars and moors give it a vintage feel and the howling hounds add to the spookiness of it all. Congrats on your win, Linda!
