Igbere
I long for you, Igbere.
My soul cries out for you.
All the time; everywhere.
Only for you.
My mother;
There is no other.
For many moons and many nights,
I have been casted away from your thighs.
Far in this land of kind foreigners.
Like a maiden separated from her tribe;
Trembling, not knowing what will be.
Lost in the thick of the forest, looking for the ukazi leaves: the greener.
Oh, it has been long.
And I am starved of your face
My heart knows no peace
and the waters of my eyes fall for the place
Where my ancestors belong.
I long for you, Igbere.
Your warm embrace.
And your divine face.
