If the Day Dawns, At Last - Yuliya
If the day dawns at last that your heart bows to service,
acknowledges, longs to ‘pay forward’ past debts, I’ll praise God.
If you live Life of Grace (shown to people around you),
to mentors, your lovers, to children, I’ll credit the Lord.
If you honor ALL gifts as they come, pray “Inshallah!” (1)
when guidance conflicts with the choices you made, I’m at peace!
Do I pray to deaf fish when I hope for things certain?
Would bless you, not break, would give strength to what’s bent, are you cursed?
Am I demon so hard I would progeny burden?
“I made you; you owe me!” Are blessed ones our slaves?
May the hint of real voice in my poem be blessing
for me from my father; my musings prove balm for the heart!

If you read this, I’m grateful and pray you aren’t nervous,
that I might reject you when rhymes aren’t your flavor, smell odd.
If you stay ’round, take notice, this poem’s a friend’s view
that’s offered in Love, hoped for resonance felt. I’m bored
by most flattery; ego’s enough puts vanilla
to shame (which is fun)! Let transparency not prove caprice.
Oh my God, you were young when fate opened our curtain,
put us on a stage in a play where some years unrehearsed
we both starred (more adlibbing), entrenched as in Verdun.
Both needed a war to escape our parental enclaves.
Now though continents drift, I still dream I’m addressing
a landslide toward health for us both. Grok you’re blessed! It’s a start!
