Notes About The Poem

Inspired by Caren Krutsinger's poem, 'If I Could,' posted July 15, 2020...

If Soap Could Talk Today

If soap could talk today
   What would it say

If masks had eyes instead of holes
What would they see to extol

If plastic gloves weren't hot and sweaty
Would wearers still act so petty

If it weren't for this COVID pandemic
   Such speculation would be academic

I'm guessing soap would talk dirty, at least around my house. Interesting piece.

For sure! The latest fashion - masks! Paris didn’t see that coming!

Good questions. Who knows? This virus is as much political as it is biological. Enjoyed the your thoughtful, intelligent write. short work but a banquet. Kids need to be back in school.

Kids do need to be back in school, true! (But only because no one would ever listen to me tell them that two months of a great overnight summer camp is worth two years of great schooling). Also needed are real concrete plans and monitoring of those plans, esp. at the start of the year, so that things go fairly smoothly.

ilene, thank you so much for the view and your supportive comment! Here's to a cool day in NYC tomorrow. It was only about 80 in Chicago with low humidity today. So maybe that's coming your way, since the heat and humidity are rolling back in here tomorrow. ~ Your local weatherperson

This COVID pandemic has created a whole new thinking and perspective on life. I wonder if the world will ever change back to the way it was just a year ago. Cheers my friend. John

Listening to the discouraging news reports lately, it seems that we're as far as ever from taming this virus... Keep the Faith, John! Thanks, Gershon
