If Only You Knew
If only you knew
The effort I made for you.
If only you knew
The sun and the moon
Were not always two.
If only you knew
How many flowers
I threw at you.
If only you knew
I had your back
That whole way
At that podunk casino
Back in Spanaway.
If only you knew
I was there
When the tears
Rolled down
Your daughter's cheek.
I watched you turn
Meek in return.
If only you knew
I carried you both through
That heartfelt burn.
If only you knew
My name, my place,
My existence at all.
But it hardly matters.
I'll always catch you
When you fall.
