If Only I Could See

When I was young
I’m sorry I failed to see
The great suffering
Of those around me

Sorry I didn’t realize
Those were scars on your neck
When to me
It was all just a loving peck

Sorry I didn’t mind
When you went to the ocean
With the intend to end your life
All I saw were covered lies

When you spent unholy hours of the night
Crying just hoping you’d die
Sorry I wasn’t here to
Keep you warm and tell you it will all be alright

But now that I see all that I couldn’t
I also realized how late one can be
To see all that happened right in front of me

I failed to understand your pain
And threw all my problems at you in hopes of aid
Now that you’ve left me in vain
I’m broken and shattered unlike the child me

By now I hope that your happy
As one can ever truly be
Because I love you and
Wish that you’ll see
The broken pieces you left in me

This is a poem I wrote for by best friend who was hurting I didn’t realize what he went through back then but now that I do I wish nobody would have to go through such a thing ever and if you are hurting just know you have help and people do care
