If Only

Everybody hates Marx
The creator of communism
Let's make the proletariat
rise to attack the Borghese

Yet is that not Karma
Friedrich Engels Family
owned large textile factories in Salford
An area in Greater Manchester, England

Mary Burn was an illiterate
working-class Irish woman,
showed Friedrich Engels
The woman being abused

In the cotton factories of Manchester
If people had not been abused
We would not have Communism
The woman started work at nine years of age

The cotton fibres in the air
caused them to get asthma
They died by the time they turned
twenty eight

Yet if we look back in history
and allow anger to replace love
If we rip down the statues
and destroy the past

We repeat the mistakes of yesterday
creating war, creating hatred
destroys your future
War after war is repeated

as each group believes
They know best
As hatred grows
to defeat common sense

The world grows in anger
Anger leads to wars
Wars lead to the death of innocents
Children pay with blood

In a war, even the men
Come to get sick
of the death and suffering
watching their friends

lying dead on the ground
Nobody wins from the wars
Soldiers learn to develop skills
Becoming excellent at killing the enemy

They have a right to feel proud
standing up to defend their country
It takes courage to face your fears
But ask any soldier

Would you like to see the end of the war
Would you like to see your friends alive
I'm sure that every soldier
would love to see the end of wars

so much more
could be achieved with friendship
Seventy percent of Pakistan's
Governments budget

Go into buying weapons
to defend itself against India
How much of India's budget
goes into defending against Pakistan

Around and around you go
Building weapons to stop wars
And yet you still keep on having wars
You could all create a better economy

If the money you spent on weapons
could instead be spent on creating employment
friendship, the growth of human respect
Your people are working, and houses are built

poverty eliminated
These things are not impossible
If people just become friends
Does it matter if we have different

Religions, if we have different beliefs
Does what your neighbour thinks
Impact on your life
Surely we can learn to care

without being the same as each other
The rich learned to abuse the poor
Marx learned to hate the rich
Starlin learned to kill

If we worked together
The rich build the factories
The poor become workers
Workers become the consumers
We all need each other
