If it Wasn't For Poetry
~ * ~
If it wasn't for poetry and the emotions it brings,
I wouldn't hear and feel the soft wind chimes ringing
in a summer breeze.
Or capture the eminence of colors and be drawn to the sweet
sent in the air, a bewitching mix of sweetness of blue expanse
and fresh flowers. Or sit and watch the setting sun and deep
shadows reaching across towards the infinite land
and connecting to the horizon.
If it wasn't for poetry, I wouldn't be adrift to the sounds of nature
and relaxing soft music. Or sensation touch of cool breeze
as I walk on a sandy beach and listen to the surf.
Or fall asleep to the welcoming darken twilight and iridescent
of the moon against the clouds.
If it, wasn't for poetry; I wouldn't know how to express death
and the abandonment and loneliness it brings.
I am a makeup of this life that comes with love, faith, hope,
and wisdom, and poetry has away to leave a peace within.
