"If It Was Not For Poetry" Poetry Contest
less than 20 lines, No metaphor, no simile, no poetic devices
Sponsor: Silent One
A few passionate words on paper - where did they emanate from?
As if in a trance, stared for the longest time, tears fell…drop by drop…
Every drop, every translucent pearl of grief…
How long they were encased in a shell of shattered hope and despair!
I felt rapt in a sublime feeling of purification, was that my Catharsis!
Finally my life has veered to an unexpected course,
Finally awakened from a long slumber of drudgery,
Emotions cascaded resounding in assurance,
Real life getting penned on paper…with an eloquent pen,
Gone through enormous pain and suffering,
That has also enriched me with immense strength, and belief!
Creativity is all I want, Poetic euphoria is all I have,
I cast away the negativity as meaningless part of my life,
I am jubilant in an unstoppable exaltation of victory,
Dark days of despondent agony have disappeared,
No more feelings of gloomy triviality and insignificance!
Found my oasis...in nature, in love, in spirituality,
If it wasn’t for Poetry, I would have walked a meaningless path,
This is my gift, my bliss, my refuge - sometimes I am unrecognizable to myself…
Poetry has given me liberation, an existence significativa!
