If I Were President
I’d take time to listen to the people’s needs
And try to give them something to bring relief
I’d reach out with kindness, giving and peace
Wisdom that comes from God, who holds my strength
I’d answer our needs and foreign countries cries for help
Preparing hands to help them with things like feeding
The poor, the children, the ones who need so desperately
I’d find a way to stop the human trafficking and drugs
That give our downtrodden people the bondage I deplore
I’d awaken minds to the light that shines from God’s throne
When we take time to reach out to others with mercy
Giving back from hearts who know what it’s like to be dejected
Left with only the hopelessness that comes from failure
I’d find ways to help the ones who need help so desperately
With kindness, wisdom, hope, faith and love that lives
Inside each one who listens to God’s voice giving instruction
I’d listen to my heart when I made the decision to pray
To our Creator, the only One who can change the way
Things have taken over – greed, hatred and bitterness
Finally leaving all the worst in the past, where it can stay
Because together, with God’s light, we can find the sense
To live life with the hope, faith and love He shines deep within
