If I Were a Tree
I’d be in groups of those like me,
So many things that I would see,
Some bark and leaves, there’d always be,
If I were a tree.
I’d stand there in dominancy,
Some folk like my supremacy,
In thousand years still there I’d be,
If I were a tree.
Please make the view look good, the plea,
Not often spotted near the sea,
To say I’m wondrous would be twee,
If I were a tree.
Some animals, their homestead’s me,
The branch a perch for birdies three.
I’d help you feel tranquility,
If I were a tree.
So now in all sincerity,
I’ll take my leave and set you free,
The dream fulfilled, the role for me,
If I were a tree.
If I were a tree
