If I were a seagull I would live near the ocean,
you would never see me in the city begging;
oh no, I would be drifting on ocean breezes,
hovering on waves and plunge diving for a fish.
Would call to my life mate in a loud laugh like shrill,
and together we will gather vegetation for our ground nest;
in the early mornings we walk a warm sand beach,
inquisitive with our long bills seeking small creatures.
Finding an ocean breeze I let it take me gliding,
over the aqua ocean to float and swirl and fall;
perhaps finding an island to court my true love,
then, leap into the air and fly away over the water.
Calling ha-ha-ha while resting on floating debris,
fluffing up my grey and white feathers in the sun;
spreading them out to stretch and flapping happily.
then- away, away with the endless ocean currents.
If I were a seagull . . . that is
