If I Should Pass Away Tonight

If I should pass away tonight, my dear Thou shalt sing no tragic songs for me Afraid I'd never again come to hear That voice of thine that touched my heart's decree Must thou not waste even a single tear Though I am not forcing thee to pretend Bestow me some orchids, not frail nor sere And tell me thou hast loved me till the end My life burned softly, like a fleeting ember If not for thee, I'd long since greeted death Let rain mourn my loss as thou dost remember For when sunlight comes, thou wilt, too, forget -
