If I Ruled the World
If I Ruled the World
Populated by sunsets of extraordinary vivid coloration,
Heightened by fires from
Remote conflagrations in the mountains far away.
Populated by orange hunter’s moons,
Suspended in an autumn cold night sky
Against a shimmering curtain backdrop
Of aurora’s colors.
Populated by the soughing of wind,
Gathered by the sentinel pine spires
Against the blue dome of sky,
And wispy cloud shapes
Which form horse tails chasing each other.
Populated by the sound of waves
On a sun-speckled brilliant day,
As they gather strength
To crash and fuse with the rock cliffs
Before retreating back to the sea.
Populated by feathery softness of
Humming bird wings as they feed on the bottled redness of nectar,
Or the silent movement of monarch wings as they perch to
Sample the flower offering in the brilliant sunlight.
I would have a world populated by peoples
Able to soak in the magic around them.
Peoples able to dream and envision desire for fullness
Of life, and mind, and soul and heart.
Peoples who have listened to the excited sounds of children as they explore the world.
Populated by peoples who have imbibed the fragrance
Of new born babes cradled in arms.
