If I Could Be Yours Forever

Oh my loveliest dear,
Please pardon my indulgence
On this which I fear
Could break you into tears.

With you I can boast
That I've enjoyed a good life,
And proud of my toast
To you as my beautiful wife.

I wish I could forever
Be to hold your tender hand,
That you and I together
Should always in unison stand.

Yet I have not in my care
What tomorrow might
present; But I promise to be here
—And there in every moment.
