If Hate Was

If hate was fuel, our country would burn right now
If hate was food, our grocery stores would be empty
If hate was a cigarette, it would be butts in ashtrays of ashes
If hate was the wind, it would be fiercely howling
If hate was candy, people wouldn’t have any teeth
If hate was a computer, it would malfunction and crash
If hate was the rain, we would be flooded by now
The hate is spreading across our land, at everyone’s feet
Filling the air we breathe and reaching our ears day to day
What will you do to counter it, stay dry and tune it out?
What will you do to survive without flowing in it?

Great piem , Heidi. Nah, people will not stand for free speech. It's easier and more comfortable to hide. We are only human. If we think humans can solve things with pea brains. We are wrong. Read world history. A compendium of man's inability to be peaceful and loving. Bodies upon bodies. Looking for the right ruler. There are none. Panagiota

Hopefully it is just a cycle Heidi but sadly, I don't think so. I see this entire mess festering until it destroy the country completely. Free speech and freedom of thought is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

I know Chris. I see it as sad as you do. It is a mess festering out of control. Free speech is quickly becoming a thing of the past and we must fight this :)

So much hatred in our world Heidi, does it matter about skin colour, what religion you are or have a disability. More love, more respect and only then have we got a chance on creating a peaceful world for all. Tom

So much truth in your poem about the way things are..but the nation is founded on solid principles and this too will pass. I hope we find our guidance in whatever form of prayer we believe in....room for all in divinity.

Great commentary and questions, Heidi, on the growing divisiveness and bitterness in the USA... My remedy: Give unconditional love to one and all. Disagree without being disagreeable. Always respect the dignity of every individual. And pray to God for shalom/real peace/healing-wholeness. Cheers, Gershon
