If

If you saw me today - not that "once upon a time" 17-year-old woman child whose summer-fresh face you caressed - would you still love me? I like to believe it was love that gazed back at me then with those dark shining eyes. If you saw me again, would your eyes still shine, and would you still love me? We took our separate paths. Sadly, I know not where yours led or if you still breathe the air of this earth. If our paths were somehow to cross again, would you still love me? If somehow we met and were free to be again what we could have been then had we not let it just slip away. . . would you still love me? for Caren Krutsinger's 'Any Poem You Want to Write 180 words or Less ' Poetry Contest

So nicely done, and refreshingly (!) not overdone at all: Just a sincere, heartfelt question and plea, eloquently penned. Resonates so well. G.L. in the contest and in love. Season's best! ~ Gershon

I love this, Andrea, and so many of us can relate ... I don't think those feelings go ever away, even when we believe they have or wish it. Love is the one force that transcends time, and we are its unwary tools. Lovely write - best of luck for the contest, Dear Poet! :-) <3

Manier times the person is in love with the face but not the soul, if that is the case then that love is finish the moment you become old but if the perwon is in love with your soul, even meeting you after years, even when that face has become old, the person still loves you, I wish you best of luck in the contest and aince it is 22 December today, so I also wish you merry Christmas and a really happy new year

Hi Andrea, You penned a well written entry for the contest theme. We all have thought about "The What If's" in our lives. You my friend expessed that feeling very well. I wish you the best of luck in the contest:-)Alexis

Sounds like the questions many of us ask about our first loves, Andrea. I don't think the passing of time would make a difference; we all age and none of us have the same spirit we did in high school. If the feelings you had in youth were genuine, they might still be there today. Very nicely done! Best wishes in the contest, dear friend. Hugs, Carolyn

I am glad you liked my recent effort. I have had long term relationships but I have never been married. Do you know the song "Will you still love met tomorrow. " My Chanukah was not bad - went to a party and met a Russian Jewess. After I gave her my business card she told me she the was married! Do you know the O.Henry story -"The Gift of the Maii"? I spoke recently with someone I dated for a long time. A Roman Catholic. Good luck with your love poem in the contest! Matthew Anish
