Let's hope FEMA does more now than with Katrina 16 years ago (which was also right before I got married!)

I hope NOT! The pandemic proves many people can work at home, so FEMA should be creating digital towns in desolate areas rather than funding rebuilding in disaster zones! Climate Change could benefit from much of New Orleans becoming swampland again . . ..

Ida was a strong hurricane and many were effected by it but thank God that there was only 3 lives lost in the hard hit areas. We got some rain and a little wind but nothing really devastating in our area. I haven't been outside to see if we have limbs down, etc. but I don't think it's bad. We did need the rain but I always hate to think that some get so much damage. The emergency sirens went off here at about 7:30 last night. I turned on the news but the storm was to the east and north of us. SK

Wow, over here insurance don't usually take on the risk if a second claim is made unless its defined as a disaster. Tom

FEMA is a government organization, Tom. It stands for 'Federal Emergency Management Aid.' It has no say in who its funds help, as far as I know. It's a political puppy -- no paws in private business.~ gw

I have some feelings that when a person builds their home in a very precarious area (i.e. along the Mississippi River bank) then they should have to foot their own bill if the Mississippi decides to reclaim the land. Just sayin'.

There was a chap on the news not worried about the damage to his home because FEMA previously funded its reconstruction THREE TIMES, so he was quite confident FEMA would pick up the tab for Ida's damage! Party time at tax payer expense!
