I'D Play For No Pay

A drug that can’t be detected A substance legally protected You know I play for the love of the game I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me An insert in my shoes to look taller A substitute ball a mite smaller You know I play for the love of the game I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me The slightest edge, any advantage Some chemical goop under a bandage You know I play for the love of the game I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me

I enjoyed this one more than usual, Gershon. When I was teaching and coaching, the school one year said they couldn't pay all the coaches so we couldn't all coach that year. I said, pay someone else, just let me coach, I'll coach for free. That year we went to the State Championship Meet for the 9th year in a row. It was worth it! :-) Bill

Wow! That's a great true story, Bill. I've actually taught for free on occasion, but for no more than a week at a time. It ain't about the paycheck... Oh, yeah. There was one year that I was working 3 jobs. Two of them didn't pay me for 8 months. How'd that work out?! - It did in the end. One of them turned into the best teaching job I've ever had as well. Go figure in life... Congrats to you, Bill! ~ Gershon

When you have the right job, no day is ever work, but my advice is to keep looking until you find that job

I agree, Caren. One one finds the right job, it's a joy (well, almost) to go to work each day. :) gw

We don't care if we are paid or not if the act satisfies our passion....! Rightly said, Gershon !

To play for no pay but ahem the pay can pay for a couple of those golf balls.

Hmm...I suspect most professionals would, gw. The pay is just an extra benefit...and a darn good one, if you ask me!
