I'D Play For No Pay

A drug that can’t be detected
A substance legally protected
  You know I play for the love of the game
  I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me

An insert in my shoes to look taller
A substitute ball a mite smaller 
  You know I play for the love of the game 
  I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me

The slightest edge, any advantage
Some chemical goop under a bandage
  You know I play for the love of the game
  I’d play for free if they didn’t pay me

Bill Baker June 13, 2022 at 4:55 PM I enjoyed this one more than usual, Gershon. When I was teaching and coaching, the school one year said they couldn't pay all the coaches so we couldn't all coach that year. I said, pay someone else, just let me coach, I'll coach for free. That year we went to the State Championship Meet for the 9th year in a row. It was worth it! :-) Bill Gershon Wolf June 13, 2022 at 8:18 PM Wow! That's a great true story, Bill. I've actually taught for free on occasion, but for no more than a week at a time. It ain't about the paycheck... Oh, yeah. There was one year that I was working 3 jobs. Two of them didn't pay me for 8 months. How'd that work out?! - It did in the end. One of them turned into the best teaching job I've ever had as well. Go figure in life...
