ICE
On a summers day as a kid
I loved pouring a sparkling coke
into a glass of ice
Man, that was nice.
Down to the corner snowball stand
in my flip-flops as anyone would,
so excited that I could get
a snowball with condensed milk on top.
God forbid you would ever drop.
On a winters day
I loved to go to the rink
ice skating all day I think
Often I’d go to the park
to admire the local ice sculptures
beautifully crafted in so many ways
those were truly wonderful days.
Later/THEN there was the ICE
you better never turn a blind eye
or accept your plight.
This ICE would come without warning,
just as a hidden duck blind brings terror
to the ones in flight.
It is masked for deception,
a cunning coward
waiting to unleash terror and death.
It could be found in any town or city,
bringing an unfair unknown result,
like the roulette wheel of meth.
So we have entered a new season of seasons,
where ICE doesn’t need frigid frost to injure and kill.
This ICE has no soul for fond memories
just intentions to eliminate free will.
