Icarus

It should have been the glorious spreading of his wings But Icarus flew too close to the sun Ignoring the admonition of his father Pride being his downfall His dreams of escape came undone As he fell tumbling through the heavens And plunged into the depths of the sea, A metaphorical warning to us all From ancient greek mythology. Nice write about one of the more familiar tales in Greek Mythology. There's an asteroid that orbits the sun and comes close to the earth every once in a while with that name.

Yes, indeed. I have written a few poems on Icarus with modern applications. Also a few poems on Sisyphus. W. H. Auden has one on Icarus based on an old painting. / Maurice
