I Write From the Heart

I write from the heart
To touch another
But once I start
I cannot smother.

The words flow
Like a raging river
Though I’m no Poe
I can make you shiver.

The words haunt me
In the dark of night
Making me pen
Life’s emotional light.

To touch a heart
Is a priceless treasure
A pot of gold
That no one can measure.

Each poem I write
Bears its own soul
Each word I write
Carries its own toll.

I write from the heart
Not for fortune or fame
But to touch another
With a gift I can’t tame.
