I Wonder What the Roses Dream

The garden, it is fast asleep, Or so it would appear— I wonder what the Roses dream, Of dewdrops cool, and clear? So peacefully they are folded For their midnight reverie— Still as a day without a breeze, Or a waveless azure sea. And I watched them from a distance Being curious to know— What dreams entice the Daffodil As they slumber sweetly so?

I was braced for your trademark humor -- and surprised, then happy that you maintained the wondrous quest(ion) right through the last word. A truly lovely write, Kenneth. ~ Gershon
