I Wonder If She Dreams With Her Wedding Ring On

Our marriage is now over twenty years long
The friendship remains but the passion seems gone
I watch her sleeping at nights; sometimes she'll gyrate and moan
I wonder if she dreams with her wedding ring on

Is she making love to me or some mystery man
Does she dream of the past or one of our friends
When she's awake all I get is the "I've got a headache now" song
I wonder if she dreams with her wedding ring on

As for me I am still very active below
But my hands, of lately, are the only lovers I know
I can tell by her dreaming the desire is not completely gone
I wonder if she dreams with her wedding ring on

Perhaps it's not her and it really is me
Perhaps I don't satisfy her quite completely
I watch her gyrate for over a half hour long
I wonder if she dreams with her wedding ring on

Should I wake her and take her in this erotic state
It dejects me when she rejects me; it might be a mistake
So I watch, not moving and not playing along
And, I wonder if she dreams with her wedding ring on

Well Joe, I am glad you directed me this way.. Quite a different perspective on the one I wrote but you did it brilliantly!! I absolutely love this I know many out there feel the frustration when in the same situation you describe.. Thanks for popping in on my side ;)

Joe - I hope this is just a poem from your imagination. But whatever it is, it is a good poem. Mike

A sad (and frustrating) state of affairs. Don't know whether this is auto-bio or just a poem, but you make it seem real. A good write.
