I Woke Up

I woke up again today Through the curtain I see the light Can tell the day will be bright God decided I could have another day I've been sick for a long time Been down and out Have had many doubts I have few days left that are mine It would be easy to drown in sorrow But yet I have few regrets I still look forward to tomorrow God, let me taste the minutes left to me This disease has been quite savage And my body is ravaged Soon my soul will be free Faith promises I will move on Soon I'll walk the streets of glory Tell the little ones of my story Remember me and I'll never be gone I miss you Mom! <3 Writing Challenge 2, August 2019 - Enclosed Rhyme - Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Dear Heart 8/21/19

I just discovered you, Timothy! I am a mother of 3 grownups, all of whom have health problems - and I do, too. Time marches on, and we keep on with hope and faith. Your poem is so poignant! Best wishes.

I still look forward to tomorrow - yes, we must cling to this, to hope, even though in near despair. The sadness of all humanity seeps through these lines.

Thank you Quoth. Overall life has been wonderful. Many blessings. But you are right. The road has been long. I try to look forward down that road, not back. But poetry brings out good and sad things we need to remember. Thank you for the kind words. God bless you and yours.
