This song came about when I heard my grandmother tell about how she and grandpa met and how he died in the war. They had 12 children, the youngest being just an infant when he passed away. She never remarried, saying, "he's waiting for me now, as I waited for him for so many years." <3 <3
I Will Wait For You

Vs1.
I've been searching this long, lonesome time
To find the One who will forever be mine
Even though we haven't met
My heart is steady and my mind is set
To our future love, I'll stay true
Yess, I will wait for you.

Chorus:*
I'll be faithful, I'll be true
You're the only one for me and
I'm yours too
Even though my heart aches
And I want you every single day
I will wait for you

Vs2.
When you left to serve the country we both love
I cried and prayed for a sign from above
To tell me you would make it home
Or on foreign soil, die alone
But no signs say you'll make it through
But I'll pray everyday that you do...
And I will wait for you.

Chorus*

Vs.3.
She has always been there for me
She's been the glue to our family
All these years she's waited so patiently
Although I tried to stay, I had to go
God called me to my home
Like Him, she gave me a love I didn't earn
So now, darlin', it's my turn...
I will wait for you.
Chorus*

These are lovely lyrics, Crystol, simple ad clear to pronounce (like song lyrics should always be). Love and commitment are the bases of a lasting marriage. Like you I too used to sing, in a choir and in church; nowadays I concentrate more on writing lyrics for songs, many of which have been recorded. ~ I read your biography...I can relate to the passing away of your child; ours would have been the 3rd one. ~ Regards // paul

Vietnam War...approx.1965 when he passed. Yes, she was alone romantically, but she always said her children and grandchildren were all she needed. My mom's mom... thank you for the compliment and all of your feedback!! Xo

You're quite a lyric writer. I've written some songs too. When you get it chance listen to my song Mary Rogers. I narrated it using the voice of one of my created characters. My real voice can be heard on my poem - Life is a song . I also have a country western song titled The Spirit, The water, and the blood. Need to repost one day. Hey, do you sing?
