I Will Rise
do you see me dull and broken
as you cut me with your eyes
so aware of mean words spoken
yet, like the sun, I will rise
you may pierce me with a glare
as you wait for my lone cry
your gentle words so rare
yet, like the air, I will rise
do you only feel my weakness
head bowed with lowered eyes
laying low with quiet meekness
yet, like the dust, I will rise
why do you tread my heart
letting on you are so wise
ripping my quiet peace apart
yet, like the dawn, I will rise
