Notes About The Poem

I Will Not Break

Your harsh words
Your morbid silence
Your dirty looks
Your dark violence
Will bend me
Will bend me
But I will not break!

Your stinging sarcasm
Your childish spite
Your evil meanness
Your brutish might
Will make me flicker
Will make me flicker
But I will not go out!

Your cold indifference
Your devious lies
Your stubborn pride
Your sad disguise
Will make me wither
Will make me wither
But I will not fall!

You may bruise me
You may abuse me
You may taunt me
You may haunt me
You may strike me
You may dislike me
You may wonder why
Though so hard you try...
I will never
I will NEVER
Lay down and die!

This is a repost of a poem I wrote long time ago here. It only got one comment. I felt the need to repost it. One of my favorite Bible verses is found in Isaiah 42:3. Like a candle about to burn out, or a reed about to break, I feel that I am bent low....But he will not let me break.

a bruised reed he will not break,
    and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;
he will faithfully bring forth justice

Thank you, Richard. Recent events are not being allowed to die. There is a new poem up about these events. :( TPS has failed me miserably. I want to close my account.

I love the repetition. I can just imagine someone yelling this out and setting themselves free of the abusers grasp. Wonderfully composed. I enjoyed it

I love to be a Warrior Princess, David....mighty and conquering. :) Thank you for reminding me of the ONE who is always there. Do you know the song by Twila Paris...The Warrior is a Child? Give it a listen...Amazing beyond words..."They don't know that I go running home when I fall down. They don't know who picks me up when no one is around. I drop my sword and cry for just a while...cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.

I like it a lot. A tongue can hold a flaming fire but your words just holds the right fire truck to put it out.

Oh Njeri...Sorry I'm late with my thanks for your post on my Poem, I will not Break. It was cute for you to mention that a tongue can set a fire, but I have the fire truck to put it out. Thanks, my sweet. I might be taking a bit of a break from the Soup, so if you don't hear from me, don't think I'm ignoring you. Hugs

Sweet friend what has happened that has caused all these hard words? The poem is brilliant but again it really upsets me greatly to see you in pain. And when I read your reply to Charmaine I have to ask how can I help a friend I love? I will stand with you whenever you need me. love Shane xxx

I know I always have your support, Shane. That means so much to me. Don't worry yourself too much. Life and love are battlefields. You win some, you lose some...but you stay standing. Sometimes...with a little help from friends. :) Hugs

Many taunt, spew lies, hatred for they fear the failures in themselves and are jealous of those who are successful. We are not perfect and everyone has missteps. Take it as a compliment , turn the other cheek, and forgive them...yes it is hard.Especially for those of us who wear their hearts on their sleeves...be strong Eileen for they are weak....hugs Tim

Thanks, Tim....Thanks. I know I have my own hang ups. I'm in no way delusional about my shortcomings. I know at times I'm difficult and a hard pill to swallow, but I am also caring and loving and compassionate. I wish people could see that. Thanks for the words of comfort. Bless you, Tim.

Thanks, Hon. I love that song. By the Way...I love Elton as well. :) Sorry seems to be the hardest word...."What do I got to do to make you love me, What do I got to do to be heard....What I say when it's all over...Sorry seems to be the hardest word." I love the quality of his voice. He's a living legend. Yes....Charmaine. I know when I'm dead and gone....at my funeral, people will say that I was fragile and sensitive and that I battled depression and often thought of taking my life....AFTER I die...Here you are giving me love before. :) Hugs, sweetie. Love you. Life isn't easy for those struggling with mental...illness.
