Listen to poem:

I Will Never Forget

How sweet you were
Simple and kind
Warm and generous

Language barrier aside
Your smile spoke volumes
You sent bullies on their merry way

You had big brothers to protect you
Who made sure you were strong
May even have taught you a move or two

I was proud to be your friend
I still have the poem you wrote about your brother Diego
It showed you were a deep soul living in a child’s body

I always knew you were special
And would accomplish great things
You’re probably a doctor now somewhere or
Somehow making a difference in the world

I hope you still exude that contagious child’s laughter and joy
And are accomplishing what you set out to do on earth
You touched my life and I remember you
No less than fifty years later
I will be looking for you one day on the other side
