I Watch You Rise

In the golden rays of early morning I watch you rise, kicking to the sky Off to dazzle elsewhere Exchanging notes in the distance Acutely aware of my limitations I watch you rise to the treetops The feeder spinning, soon abandoned The swelling buds soon to cover Rest now and garner strength After the long winter struggle Ready for the gathering in Hungry mouths to fill again
