I Was Given a Choice

They chased me down and took me up. I was stunned by a ray for it was the sixties, was it not? The Fifty Foot Woman and My Favorite Martian were on TV These guys were supposed to have glass domes spaceships. They did not; but the blinking lights were there. I was given my choice; return to earth and do something spectacular Or get put into their zoo, and entertain the other Xentilitans. This was the first time I had even heard of their galaxy, Did not know until this second that the Milky Way had a sister. Almost immediately money appeared in my backyard, in my home, In my life. People ran up and handed me a plethora of twenty dollar bills. Do something important now, they would urge me. I was surprised but pleased. I built an orphanage, a dog city, a cat haven, a home for unwed mothers. Newspapers wrote stories about my feats, and I asked them to stop. I am a simple person I told them. They followed me around taking photos. I was more photographed than Jackie. She called and asked me to lay low, so she could retain her title Queen of Press. This was the sixties, but her voice was annoying. I toyed about it for a long time. Two or three hours. Then I let her have the title. The big mystery now, looking back is, how did I know about unwed mothers? This was the sixties and I was only eight.

Another great write! What a great word, Xentilitans. My parents got a wave from JFK. Mom was pregnant with me. Dad tapped the horn at the right time.
