I Was Drunk

Whispers Long and lost Loud and low “S e i z e t h e d a y” Touched my ears, Poured into my soul, Vanished my inner ghoul, The night nostalgic, new, Nectarous and nefarious, Feathered my hands, Floated me from my desk, I sniffed soul soothing poetry Intoxicating from the dusty old Buttery books shelved on, inviting. I drank one poem, And another, Then another, Until I was dizzy drunk, My eyelashes winged to the window And it was dawn.

' I sniffed soul soothing poetry, ' those ' buttery books. ' I can relate, being drunk in this way. :) You're such a gifted writer, Anne. I enjoy these moments you create, my sweet friend. :) Hugs, Brandy

Words are clever little things aren't they? More than just contrast against a neutral background, more than stars leading a supporting cast of dots and commas.. I love your lines "Intoxicating from the dusty old Buttery books shelved on, inviting." and I think we, the writers and performers of words, can easily get lost - intoxicated even - in the pages. I like this poem, ooh steady, yes I do. Blessings S:) x (fav)

You are an inspiration to this dilettante and dabbler of poetry. "Seize the day" y e s carpe diem...and you have, brilliantly Anne, and imagery, edgy and enchants!

Dearest Anne, Suddenly, I feel drunk on poetry, too, and now I am lost in darkness and new nights, lifted from my desk by those intoxicating lines. The way you describe tasting each poem, letting them carry you until dawn. We both chase that dizzy, soul-soothing magic in dusty books and wild words. What a beautiful journey! A side note, I just had a class reunion this weekend and I had hoped Mrs. Dagenhart was there, but oh, she was not. Blessings, and light, My Dear Anne, Daniel

Dearest Daniel, I'm swept away by your words, and it's lovely to share this poetic intoxication with you! The nights, the words, the magic – it's a journey I'm grateful to embark on with fellow travelers like yourself. I hope Mrs. Dagenhart is well, and though she's not there in person, her impact surely remains. With love and respect always, Anne

Drunk on poetry? Kewl. Wondering if vanquished would be a better choice than vanished though. In any case, you are very creative Anne
