I Want To Be the Peoples Poet

The Peoples Poet

I want to be the people’s Poet
and have the whole world know it
I want to be forever young
Live to speak every native tongue
Live in a world that transcends both race and creed
Rid the world of man’s envy his greed
Until the last mouth standing has its feed

Why does any man bleed
Why should anyone need
For God’s sake why doesn't anyone lead

I don’t know where were going
There’s no earthly way of knowing
Because Humanity shows no signs of growing
Yet we believe heaven is glowing
In death we get to meet the all knowing
You’d think that we would live our lives well
So we'd have wonderous tales to tell
For creations 9 months maternity
In Death we live for all eternity !

Christopher, I enjoyed reading your poem, The Peoples' Poet this evening. I found your message to be full of enlightenment and your title appropriate. It shows great love for mankind as well as strong faith in God. Good job on your last two lines. They very successfully catch the readers' attention and leads him to think about how short our time on earth really is...we should try more to do better. Because, compared to eternity earth life is only a blink of the eye. Great Write! Lovingly, Dane

Questions and answers Christopher, excellent piece. We tend to find our own answers as we go through life, although some do not >> thank you for sharing this gem >> James

Chris, i love the turn in your style. Humanity does show no sign of growing! And how you hit the nail on the head about heaven! It gets to me when people turn to God/Religeon because of guilt!...Apparently its all OK then! (yeh right!) You should enter this one in a contest! Ps, your other pieces do not need improving my friend, as they are from your soul. They are now part of you. I look back at my stuff and i may change a word or two, but they are all good to me.

Boy finally a rational person who does not see life as merely something to "get over with" on the way to Heaven...BIG HUG! Soup Mail
